This is the most beautiful painting! I feel lucky and blessed that I came across it! My husband and I honeymooned in Mo’orea and we had taken many pictures in front of this church. To find that Greg Collins painted it was such a joy! We will treasure it forever!

I was super-pleased with my photo print purchase! Like many people, I’m sure, when making online purchases there’s always just a little voice of skepticism in the back of my mind. I knew I liked the image, but had to roll the dice that it would look good in person, the frame would be adequate, etc. I must say it exceeded even my hopeful expectations! First of all, the packing was stellar. The photo print did look great in person, and the framing was WAY better than I was expecting! It was ready to go with a sturdy hanging wire already in place. Unfortunately it was a gift, so I don’t have a photo of it on my wall! I did, however, open and inspect it before wrapping it and re-shipping (in the same stellar packing!). I would easily recommend FineArtAmerica and will happily shop with them again in the future…worry free!

Artist's Description
Striking, almost monochrome pastel portrait by French artist Jacques-Emile Blanche (1861-1942) of celebrated French pianist Marie-Leontine Bordes-Pene (1858-1924) dating from c. 1889-90. Bordes-Pene was the piano accompanist at the first public performance of Cesar Franck's Violin Sonata in A major, which took place on September 26 1886 at the Palais de Beaux Arts in Brussels. The concert, which culminated with the sonata, was a long one, beginning at 3pm in the afternoon, and as no artificial lighting was permitted for fear of damaging the paintings, the premiere took place in virtual darkness. It's possible Blanche had this in mind when he painted this sepulchral view of the pianist in a dramatic low-light scenario.
